VX-8D / Tone Mode Not Available
The VX-8 - Menu Item #74 Rx Mode is defaulted to Auto. When set to Auto, the radio uses FM, AM and WFM as dictated by the frequency.
Tones can be set only in FM mode. AM and WFM do not use tones, so the column is disabled. In the programmer this is a little hard to see since Operating Mode stays at Auto. You must know that at 470.00 and at 174.000 the Operating Mode changes from FM to WFM and the ability to enter tones ceases.
Should someone need to enter a tone about these limits, 470 or 174 MHz, have them change Operating Mode to FM. The Tone Mode column will become active for their use.
