The IC-705 has the ability to reset internal memories and settings of the radio through a series of physical button presses from the face of the radio. To perform this function from the face of the radio, make sure the radio is powered off. Once the radio is powered off, press and hold the RIT/TX and XFC key while powering the radio on.
This will completely factory reset the IC-705 without having to use the menu functions of the radio.
