Many radios today use electronics that are built into the radio. For The DMR radios, the most common drivers are distributed with the RT Systems programmer for that model.
- Open Device Manager
- Find the device - usually under Other Devices with a yellow caution symbol or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. (Anyplace it shows up as something other than STM Device in DFU Mode) - If you are not sure, turn the radio off and see what disappears from the list. That will be the radio.
- Right click on the indication for the radio and select Update Driver
- Select BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVERS... this will NOT work automatically. It did not the first time and it will not this time.
- On the next screen, click the Browse button next to the "search for drives in this location" box.
- In the window that opens, scroll down to
C:\Program Files (x86)\RT Systems V5\USBComDrivers\DMRDrivers
(this was installed with the programmer) - Click OK to close this window.
- Click Next
- Windows will do its thing and complete setup of the drivers for use by the system.
- Close Device Manager
- Open the programmer and try again. This time with success!!
