RT Programmers for MacOS

RT Systems programmers for the Mac operating system. These programmers will continue to be maintained for Windows and Mac. Click on any of those in the list for more details or to purchase that Programmer.

Your purchase is for the RT Systems programmer on ONE operating system: Windows OR Mac.

  • You make that selection during the purchase from our site or at download if your purchase was through a dealer.
  • You can have BOTH the Windows and Mac versions at a discount for the second (for programmers that have both a Windows and Mac version available).
    • Qualifying versions are Windows 5.0 or higher and Mac 6.0 and higher. Earlier versions of the RT Systems programmers do not qualify you for a discounted cross platform purchase.
    • For a dealer purchase, provide proof of purchase to techsupport@rtsystemsinc.com with the receipt for that purchase, the original serial number and the email address you used for download and installation. The cross platform version will be $15.00
    • To add the other operating system for an RT Systems order, let us know that you want the Programmer for that operating system and the email address you used for your account. The cross platform version will be $15.00
  • All cross platform versions are available by electronic download only.

Operating System Compatibility:

Mac OS requirement Version 10.13.6 or higher. (That's  High Sierra (10.13), Mojave (10.14), Catalina (10.15), Big Sur (11), Monterey (12) and Ventura (13)) 64-bit operating system only for all.

I apologize for any confusion with the information published on packaging.  As of January 20, 2023, we lost the ability to support the original 10.11.6 operating system and later that year, we had to leave Sierra (10.12).  Contact RT Systems for details if necessary for your operating system.

Cables:

RT Systems Programmers on the Mac no longer require the RT Systems cable.  The Mac version programs will work with "generic" USB cables. However, be advised that identifying the com port on a MAC is difficult at best. Using the RT Systems cable is automatic. The Programmer finds the cable. You are welcome to use other cables if you can identify the com port. RT Systems cannot help with that process on your machine.  Cables without electronics (i.e., RT-49, RT-69, RT-42, RT-62, RT-41, RT-61) are not subject to this given that with their use, the Programmer works automatically through the electronics in the radio.

Note:  As for the RT Systems USB cables, it was about halfway through Catalina (10.15) that Mac put the ids for the RT Systems cables into the kernel of the operating system.  Before that, drivers had to be installed and a reboot was required if the cable was removed from the port.  Since that mid point in Catalina, things have become easier.  The cables work more automatically when connected.

For those of you who upgraded your operating system through Catalina and into a newer version, removal of those original drivers is necessary to prevent a conflict.  See the article here for more information about that process.  We can help with this in tech support.

USB C Compatibilities

The RT Systems cables work well on newer machines through a properly configured USB-A to USB-C adapter.

Also  available are the RT-62 (USB-C to USB-B), the RT-69 (USB-C to Micro B),the RT-61 (USB-C to Mini B) and RT-60 (USB-A to USB-C adapter for use with existing RT Systems cables. )
