Accessing Weather Channels
The only way to get to the Wx Channels that are preprogramed in the radio is to reprogram one of the keys on the microphone for Weather. This is done easily in the programmer.
- Go to Settings | Radio Menu Settings at the top of the screen.
- In the 4th column on the Common tab, you will find Mic P1 Key, Mic P2 Key, Mic P3 Key and Mic P4 Key.
- Each of these can be customized for easy operations of the radio, but if you want to access the weather channels, you must set one of them to Weather.
Weather channel scanning
When radio set to scan through the weather channels - If all but one channel is set to skip, the radio will lock up when scanning or when weather alert function is used - You MUST set the radio to have at least two channels in the scan function.
This is an inherent problem with the radio, Yaesu is aware of it. It is not an issue with the programmer other than it is easy to set all but one channel to skip. If the radio locks up, it can be saved by modifying it. The deep reboot during that process will bring it out of that state.
