DR-135 DTMF Tones

DTMF tones in DR-135, DR-235 and DR-435 radios


It appears that Alinco ignored conventional labeling for the tones.


Let's say that convention is 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D *(E) #(F). Each of these is associated with a hex value. Now for the * and #, these are alternate labels for E and F which are hex values. * and # are ONLY LABELS that appear on the face of the radio.


On the Alinco radio when you are setting a DTMF sequence manually, your selections are 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D # * Remember when I mentioned that the convention is 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D * # Notice that the * and # are reversed from the convention.


You can be sure the order of the hex values did not change. Actually, we can confirm in the file that they did NOT. I suspect that anyone attempting to use a # as a part of a code should use a * instead for this radio to get the desired results. We have not been able to test this live as we do not have an active IRPL repeater nearby. This information is based on comparison of the radio files and DTMF storage between these and others. I recommend that you program one DTMF memory with a # and another with a * to see which one works properly in the field. You may be surprised that although your display does not look right, the receiving repeater will hear what it wants to respond.
