Well it appears the pirates have decided to copy the Icom IC-V86 radio. We have seen one and it is a pretty good copy... but it is not an original... although it does have an Icom holigram on it.
This is what Icom has done to protect you. When scanned, the QR code will report if this is truly an Icom product. See details here Icom Genuine Equipment Info
The QR code in the photos of the product shown on E-bay can be scanned and reports as a simple text code generated from the serial number (at least that is the report in my QR code scanner). Trying the same with a true Icom radio, the code is verified as shown on the page at the link.
You will discover that this radio cannot be programmed with the WCS-V86 programmer from RT Systems. Changes will not be made for this. RT Systems will not support what is known to be a counterfeit radio.
