The Spring Creators Update for Windows 10 has been known to cause an issue with the USB driver installation for RT Systems cables. If you have found you get a "Code 39" error as seen in the picture below, this article will provide you with a fix to get past this issue.
First, in the lower right corner near the date and time on your computer, click on the up pointing arrow to find additional apps running in the background on your computer. You're going to look for the white Windows Defender Shield as circled in green below. You'll right click on the shield and select the option for "View security dashboard" in the pop up menu.
The Windows Defender Security Center window will appear and you'll see a list of different options to the left of that screen. Click on "Device Security" in that list. You should get a screen similar to this one.
On this screen, click on the blue text that says "Core isolation details".
- On the Core isolation screen, Memory integrity will most likely be set to On. You'll want to turn that Off.
- A Windows Security message will appear asking if you want to allow this change Yes or No. Select Yes.
- It will take you back to the Core isolation screen and will most likely prompt you to restart your system.
- Close out of the Windows Defender Security Center then complete a restart on your system.
- Once back up and loaded, you can connect your cable to your computer, if not connected already.
- Reopen Device Manager and locate the cable under Ports (COM & LPT). You should now find that the cable drivers are properly configured and the cable is ready for use.
