Anytone changed the microprocessor in the AT-578 as of July 1, 2022. The two versions are distinguished as "GD" and "AT" Radios with the newer "AT" microprocessor use different firmware than the older versions with the "GD" microprocessors. You can tell which version a radio is by looking under "Device Info" in the radio's settings menu. You will see either "AT" or "GD" in the firmware version section depending on what the radio is using.
We have noted via in-house testing that the newer "AT" versions of the radio do not seem to function properly with Windows 8. While our software will run fine on Windows 8 it does not appear as though the standard drivers for the 578 can say the same.
We were never able to get any of our "AT" versions of the radio to talk to the software on Windows 8 while they work perfectly fine on Windows 10 and 11. Each "GD" version of the radio worked fine on all three Windows versions, including 8.
This leads us to believe that there is some kind of incompatibility with the newer "AT" version microprocessors in the new radios that prevent them from properly identifying to Windows 8 machines. Until new information is uncovered this will be an issue that is beyond our ability to solve.
