The FT-2900 radio has a Channel Only Mode that changes several things about the radio making it more like a commercial radio.
In Channel Only Mode, the radio displays memory channels as name only. If a name is not entered for a channel and that channel set for Show Name, the radio defaults to B#### (where #### are four digits.)
In Channel Only Mode, the radio displays VFO frequencies the same way.
The radio is put into Channel only mode by holding the [Set/MHz] button when powering it on. This can happen unexpectedly when the wrong button is pressed when engaging CLONE mode for programming.
To put the radio back into full operating mode, press and hold the [Set/MHz] button while powering it on. The radio will return to normal operation.
