Tone and Tone Squelch - The basics

Sometimes you can hear a repeater but you just can't get anyone to hear you. Could be you don't have the tone set properly.  Without the proper tone, the repeater will not let others hear your conversation.

Tones are the "magic handshake" or the "secret password' that lets your signal in to the repeater. Without it... your signal is ignored.
