So frustration. You think you have the radio exactly as you want it to do programming and... it does not work. CLONE never leaves the screen of the radio and the Programmer reports a Time-Out error.
What to do... Let's start here first.
The FT-60 can be a little confusing when it comes to getting it into CLONE mode. You follow the instructions to "Press and the [Moni/T Call] key while turnng on the power" and see "CLONE" on the face of the radio so you think you're there... BUT YOU'RE NOT.
You are in a start up menu on the CLONE option. You see a little more than just CLONE on the screen. The give away is the F8 at the top of the screen.
The next step is to press the [FW] key at the bottom right of the radio. The radio will cycle itself off and back on to put go all the way into CLONE mode. BUT....what if nothing happens on the radio when you press the V/M key?
- First and most importantly, you are NOT in CLONE mode. You are NOT ready to program the radio.
- Next, try the button press again. You may not have pressed the button quite right (too long... too short... Yaesu radios can be picky.)
- If nothing continues to happen, suspect that your keys are locked. To Check:
- Turn the radio off and back on in regular mode.
- Look for the Lock symbol on the face of the radio
- If you see it there, press the [FW] key at the bottom right then the [6/LOCK] button to unlock the keys of the radio.
Now, turn the radio off and begin the process again. This time you will be able to complete the programming process completely.
