The USB-59 cable for the VX-8 does not ID in Device Manager as a Com Port. You will see it as shown here. under Universal Serial Bus controllers. It is clearly identified as the VX-8 Radio Cable.
This is true for the original blue cable and for the newer black cables.
They work the same with the programmer which finds the cable automatically for data transfer between the radio and the computer.
