These two radios have very different brains even through their model numbers are similar. This means the RT Systems software for them is also different. They do at least use the same programming cable which is the RT Systems USB-29A.
Please make sure you physically check your radio to ensure you are getting the correct piece of software for it. See image below for the location on the radio to check. Note that the original programmer for the DR-138 is compatible with the DR-438 as well. RT Systems is not aware of a MKII version of the DR-438 as of April 2026.
