FT-710 Keyer Option

In the menu settings for the FT-710 radio there is an option for Keyer. It is there for the sake of completeness of the programmer... but it is tricky to see it transfer to the radio. Based on the design of the radio, the Keyer option is available on the radio's face only when the radio is in CW mode.

• Keyer in the FT-710 can only be accessed in the menu from the face of the radio when the radio is in CW mode.  
• Experiment with the radio and watch the option become disabled when the radio is not in CW mode. 
• When sending a file to the radio, if the radio is in CW mode in VFO, the Keyer option will change to that set in the file.  If the radio is in Memory mode (CW or not), the option cannot be reached.  The radio is apparently protecting this option during the data transfer. 

We recommend knowing how to manipulate this option from the face of the radio to access and set it when you needed. That is done through these steps:

• Press the FUNC knob to see the menu items.
• Touch the Mode indication at the top to open themode selection menu.
• Select CW
• Touch Keyer in the menu to activate.
• Press the FUNC knob again to exit the menu.
