The article was done using the Anytone AT-D878 but will apply to many other models from Anytone, Alinco, and BTech.
To get to the preferences menu click Settings and then Radio Menu Settings.
Once the new window pops up, which can take a little longer than expected to load all the preferences, make sure you are on the Auto Repeater tab.
Auto Roaming – Checking this box enables Auto Roaming, which allows continuous roaming. (Note: Roam Channels and Roam Zones are set up in the tabs accessed on the main page of the programmer.)
Alert Out of Range – Allows you to choose which alert type will sound when the repeater is out of range.
Auto Repeater A –
- Off – Disables Auto Repeater A.
- Positive – The transmit frequency will be the receive frequency plus the offset.
- Negative – The transmit frequency will be the receive frequency minus the offset.
Auto Repeater B –
- Off – Disables Auto Repeater B.
- Positive – The transmit frequency will be the receive frequency plus the offset.
- Negative – The transmit frequency will be the receive frequency minus the offset.
Auto Roaming Interval – If you have selected Fixed Time in the Timed Roaming Start dropdown this determines the amount of time before the radio starts roaming.
Out of Range Reminder – Allows you to set how many times you will receive an Out of Range reminder.
Repeater Check – When enabled, the radio periodically checks if it can receive a signal from a nearby repeater.
Repeater Check Interval(s) – This sets the Intervals for the Repeater Check.
Repeater Check – How many times the radio will try to reconnect to the repeater.
Roaming Effect Wait – Determines how long the radio waits before switching to another repeater with a stronger signal.
Roaming Zone – Which Zone the radio will use to roam.
Timed Roaming Start – Determines when Auto Roaming will start.
- Fixed Time – Begins roaming based on the number of minutes you have selected in the Auto Roaming Fixed Time dropdown.
- Out of Range – If Repeater Check is enabled roaming will begin immediately after the radio cannot connect to a repeater.
Auto Repeater 1 – For analog repeaters this allows you to select the receiving channel offset for each band. Please note that you will only see Off in the dropdown menu unless you have entered at least 1 offset in the Add or Remove Offset Freq box.
Auto Repeater 2 – For analog repeaters this allows you to select the receiving channel offset for each band. Please note that you will only see Off in the dropdown menu unless you have entered at least 1 offset in the Add or Remove Offset Freq box.
Auto Repeater 1 Limits – Allows you to set the minimum and maximum frequencies of the repeaters for each band.
Auto Repeater 2 Limits – Allows you to set the minimum and maximum frequencies or the repeaters for each band.
Add or Remove Offset Freq – Allows you to enter the offset Frequencies to be used for Auto Repeater 1 and Auto Repeater 2 above.
