The UV5R-Mini radio has a strange option for each memory channel. That is Menu Item 13 SP-Mute in the Program Channel section. You may turn this on while learning the radio and wonder why no one is talking to you.
This option does just what it says it does.... Mutes the speaker. YIKES!! Now you have this and Tone Squelch to worry about blocking incoming audio. Always something to learn.
The RT Systems programmer turns this option Off whenever a file is written to the radio. If you want to use it, you will need to turn it on from the face of the radio for the particular channel you want to mute. We want you well aware that you are using this option rather than it being a "gotcha".
When no audio is heard when receiving a signal, the SP Mute might be turned on.
