First!! As soon as you get that radio out of the box, turn it over and look for the FCC ID on the label. If it is not there, do NOT install the RT Systems YPS-2980 Programmer. It will not work. Installed software is not returnable through RT Systems or a dealer.
Second: When using the Programmer, you will be instructed to press the [A/N (LOW)] button while turning on the radio to put it into CLONE mode. The next instructions tell you to press the [Set (MHz)] key to start CLONE TX. If NOTHING happens when you press the [Set (MHz)] key, this is a pirated radio.
We have not worked with this radio and have no plans for working with it in the future, but I was told that the [MW (D/MR)] key will cause the radio to go to TX. Try it. This radio might talk to the software now that you found the right key to trigger TX.... But, I kinda doubt it.
It's bad when a radio is copied then marketed under the same labeling as the original.
You are probably back to hand programming on this one. Be glad that you are a ham and that face programming is available to us.
